Positive: Lovely, huge apartment in a great location in the Alfama district. A few steps from a lovely park, with twice-weekly market and a number of restaurants. Don't miss the "SC-DC" restaurant nearby for delicious mushroom dishes - best meal during our 2 weeks in Portugal! Hosts were very friendly and responsive.

Negative: General maintenance and repairs are needed. The washing machine broke down, and our clothes were stuck wet inside for nearly 2 days. The dishwasher leaks and has broken parts. Lights seem to be missing plus there is a strong smell of humidity. There was a downpour during our stay and multiple leaks in the house including flooding under the patio door into the lounge. There are many stairs inside which may be difficult for the elderly, young children, or those with mobility issues. The bottom floor has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, but with a big step to get into the bath/shower. Lounge also on bottom floor. 2 further bedrooms upstairs plus second bathroom, kitchen and dining. There is also a lack of privacy in the bedrooms as there are no curtains. The internal wooden shutters can be closed, but then the windows cannot be opened, and there would be no natural light. Even some sheer curtains would help. Wifi doesn't work in the front two bedrooms.
