Positive: I thought that the space was very beautiful and secluded. The hosts are extremely kind and understanding. They always made sure to reply to all our questions and offered solutions for any of our needs. Dave, the host even stayed up late and called after we got stuck in traffic on our way up! Their intention of making it a pleasurable stay was very clear and much appreciated. They even replaced the showerhead almost immediately after we told them it had an issue. The location is a south of Auburn, about a 10 min drive to the main areas of the town, and less than a 5 min drive away from the lake. The property has plenty of room for your dog to run around if you bring a pet, which for me it was a really huge plus. (Although, I learned that my amazingly loyal Rotie would much rather spend the time inside away from the hot sun haha)
Negative: When I arrived, I appreciated that the hosts immediately let us know that one of their sinks was out of service, and being repaired. That was a small inconvenience but understandable and there was the main sink in the kitchen that worked fine. I would say there was a few small things that I wish would've been a bit better, I suggest that the hosts spend a full week, (7 days) where they try to live out solely in that space as if it was a vacation for them. Packing whatever they need and not going back home to get anything. I think that after doing so, they might better understand what fixes and upgrades may do best in their space. Outside of that, maybe a cleaning person with hotel/luxury experience may help. The space was generally clean, bed had clean sheets, surfaces were wiped down, but there were small things that I feel makes a difference when it comes to staying in a place for a trip. (dust behind cushions, stains, wiping down the inside of the microwave, etc) The little things tend to add up, and honestly its only because of how kind and helpful the hosts were during our stay that I didn't let it bother me.
Summary: Rustic Home Away From Home.
