"Gumtree Glen" is a beautifully appointed, comfortable and extra spacious traditional wooden house, styled with handmade rug and original artworks by regional artists. Surrounding by wrap around verandas and huge timber deck, the cottage is situated on the outskirts of Kangaroo Valley Village - allowing guests to enjoy a sense of rural escape as well as being an easy few minutes away from the picturesque village with all of its eating and shopping amenities.
It is a short walk up the road from the Kangaroo River, giving many options for kayaking, swimming, picnicking, walking and exploring. Set amidst an acre of garden, front and back, Gumtree Glen is the perfect destination for couples to get together for a weekend away or a family holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The huge open plan living area gives more than enough room for up to 8 guests to spread out, watch a movie, cook, read - or for kids to play. The dining table comfortably seats 8. The wood burner heats the entire room; firewood supplied May to September, and is perfect for the Valley's chilly winter nights. Wood is supplied in winter.
For indoor entertainment for the young and not so young, there is a good selection of DVDs, books, board games and children's toys. The modern kitchen is fully equipped, included a coffee machine and dishwasher, as well as a full range of cook's appliances and utensils. There is a 5-hub gas cooker, and a double-sized oven.
Complimentary wifi is available.
The master bedroom has a queen bed and an ensuite bathroom with shower. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed. Bedroom 3 has a queen bed. Bedroom 4 has 2 single beds. Linen and towels are provided.
The main bathroom has a bath tub as well as a shower, and there is a separate toilet for your convenience. Towels are provided for our guests, and there is a hair dryer available.
There is an expansive deck at the rear of the house with an outdoor dining setting, a lounge area and a gas barbeque. The 10 person outdoor spa tub is a feature and has a childproof fence and gate for safety. The huge level yard is surrounded by stunning woodland which provides privacy and a sense of rural isolation, as well as providing homes for all kinds of wildlife - its not unusual to see kangaroos and wombats in the garden in the early morning. The back garden is safely fenced, perfect for the kids to run around or play a game of cricket. There is also a 1.5 metre fire bowl which can be used with prior permission; please BYO firewood.
Gumtree Glen is only a 2 minute drive from the village or a 15 minute stroll using the combined bike/walking path, very handy after having a few drinks at one of the fabulous restaurants and cafes or The Friendly Inn pub.
Only a 5 minute walk to the famous Hampden Bridge, Kangaroo River and canoe, kayak and bike hire. Cross the bridge to Pioneer Farm Museum where the children can learn about the area's early history through interactive displays.
There is ample space for up to 5 cars to park.
Dogs are welcome, with prior approval.
