Huge built-in wardrobes in both bedrooms. Second bedroom can be a work from home office, has desk and ergonomic chair, opens onto balcony overlooking quiet leafy street. It has a boutique sofa bed (Matt Blatt brand) which can be set up as a double, two singles (great for kids!) or a single plus chaise longue. Upstairs bathroom has a full tub plus a shower. Downstairs, cooks will love the kitchen, with its wide range of quality cookware (Le Creuset pots, wok, rice cooker, slow cooker, pans), attractive crockery and glassware. THREE kinds of coffee maker: a Breville expresso (makes a perfect flat white!), an Italian style mocha pot, and a plunger. Quiet dishwasher and a washing machine/dryer, full fridge, Smegs toaster. Large SMART TV is wall mounted and pulls out to be viewed from sofa. It has numerous streaming channels including Netflix. Breakfast table leads out to a grassy courtyard, with folding bivalve doors for warm days. Second half-bathroom has toilet and handbasin. Loungeroom leads into a separate dining room, with elegant Scandi dining setting, bookshelves and dresser. Side passage opens onto street, handy access if needed. Private porch with key stored safely in lockbox. Unrestricted on-street parking.
This is a quiet street in a safe, friendly community that retains its old village atmosphere, though the streets are now dotted with cafes, restaurants, pubs and interesting shops selling fashion, books, crafts and more. Right on Sydney Harbour, water views and waterside parks abound, perfect for walks, picnics and pets.
It's hard to believe you can be in the city centre in 15 minutes (one Sunday evening it took us under TEN minutes by 441 bus from Sydney Town Hall to home). Ferries are a fabulous way to commute and see the sights - ferry from Balmain Wharf ( 12-min stroll away) goes direct to Circular Quay, best stop for Sydney Opera House. Other ferries go to Barangaroo, Darling Harbour and North Sydney. Locally, Dawn Fraser Heritage Baths are lovely for laps or toddlers ( small sandy area) - under 10-minute walk from home. Ballast Point Park, Elkington Park, Mort Bay Park, Birchgrove Oval and Yurulbin Point are all easy walking distance, with views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge - and the famous New Years Eve fireworks.
PETS: I am a dog lover (have a golden retriever/border collie cross) and understand the importance of being able to bring your pet when you travel. I am open to a well behaved dog or cat staying. But I need to know your pet can obey rules - e.g. not allowed on furniture (beds, sofas). Also, the stairs are narrow and not easy for an old dog to navigate. I also expect that a dog is adequately exercised and hosted so that they are not left to scratch at doors or bark excessively. And of course, it's important that you clean up after your pet, be it dog poo in the courtyard or hairs on the carpet. There are glorious dog-friendly parks and harbour beaches in every direction, so your dog should really enjoy their stay!
