The stunning Guincho beach (where you will be able to surf, windsurf, chill out at the beach bar or simply soak up the sun!) is a couple of minutes’ drive away, or 15-20 minutes’ walk from the house, through a beautiful green valley in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. In Charneca, there is a small supermarket, a couple of local cafés, a restaurant, an equestrian centre, a tennis court, as well as a bus stop. Within a couple of minutes’ drive, you will reach the nearby villages of Aldeia de Juso and Areia. Aldeia de Juso is the place to go if you want fresh local produce, and Areia is the “surfer hub” of Cascais, being right next to the Guincho sand-dunes, with a wide variety of local cafes and lively restaurants, suited to everyone’s price range! Even though a quiet and peaceful location in which to spend relaxing holidays, the village of Charneca is only 2,5 km away from the A5, the motorway connection to Portugal’s bustling capital, Lisbon! A few minutes drive leads you to the ocean facing road from Guincho to Cascais, along which you can find some of the best seafood restaurants in the region.
